Kimlic
A prototype for Kimlic, a blockchain identity startup: scan a QR code with your phone and sign in to a website with an identity already verified through KYC.

Kimlic wanted a person to go through KYC once and then prove who they were to any website without handing over their documents again. The record a website checked lived on Ethereum, so the website did not have to trust a database it could not check.
I was one of Kimlic’s co-founders and its CTO, and I joined when there was no product yet. I built the first prototype with Solidity, Ethereum and Ruby on Rails. The website showed a QR code. The user opened a web page on their phone, scanned the code, and was signed in with the identity they had already verified through KYC.
Kimlic won Webrazzi Arena 2017, the startup competition at Webrazzi Summit, against nine other finalists. The win took the team to TechCrunch Disrupt Berlin in December 2017, where we showed the prototype at our stand.
I worked on Kimlic from October 2017 to the end of January 2018. The rights to the product and its code belong to the company behind it. The site as it stood in December 2017 is preserved in the Wayback Machine.
